Gears of War 3

Gears of War 3 is coming out tomorrow! In case you didn't know...

I would be more excited, but I am not going to buy it. Why? It is 60 bucks, which I guess is normal for games these days but damn. 60 bucks I could be spending on food or something. I suppose I have become too used to getting games for free and playing the betas and alpha tests. Anyways, for those of you who pre ordered or are going to buy it tomorrow, enjoy!

Speaking of testing games, I actually can't talk about them. I am testing an arena style fps right now though, but I had to sign something saying I wouldn't talk about it. Bummer. I'm not even really allowed to talk about the studio it is coming from. So I guess I will have to find other things to talk about on my blog.

Black Friday Give In

So I have been thinking about getting a Playstation 3 or an Xbox 360 for quite a while. So that I have another platform to game on, have access to different games/another social gaming network, and so I can be better with consoles (to kick ass). I walked in to Gamestop today and confronted the first slightly scared looking sales boy, and began listing the pros and cons of each of the consoles.
Xbox: Backwards compatable, better social gaming network, more games i'm interested in
Playstation 3: 'better graphics', blue ray player, NOT backwards compatible, lasts longer
I don't need a blue ray player. With whatever shitty tv I would be using there wouldn't be a big enough difference in the quality for it to be worth it. I don't want to pay extra for dvds, and blue rays are harder to pirate (shh about that one) so I don't need that blue ray. I have a playstation 2 which works fine, I also have an xbox that works as long as you hit it to get the discs to eject. The Xbox 360 refurbished was much cheaper than the Playstation 3 so the winner is...drumroll please...

The Xbox 360, which I already have a pink controller for and I plan to get a pink skin/cover for it. Xbox live...get ready.

Planning a tournament

...On Xbox 360!? Yes, for the apartment complex that I am living in. I think it will be interesting to document how this goes, it will probably be Call of Duty and I am planning it with an RA that is a friend of mine. I don't know if I will participate or not (probably) and we are still planning prizes and so on. I think I will make this a 'how to organize your own LAN/Tournament' adventure.

The first issues that we have started discussing are how we will get enough headsets for everyone, or how will we keep the teams in contact with each other. I have proposed a BYOH (bring your own headset) but we will see how this plays out.
