13 Emmy Awards is how you get it done

The series based off of a Song of Ice and Fire by George R.R. Martin is up for 13 Emmy awards. THIRTEEN. I hope that it wins all of them, for anyone who didn't see the first season you are missing out, and for anyone who hasn't read A Game of Thrones, which is what the first season is based off of you are missing out even more. Also, the fifth book was released just a few days ago, you know what I will be doing the next few days.

Gritty, dirty, dark. I have already talked about how well they adapted this series for TV but I just want to say it again. There were a few glaring errors that bothered me but you can't get a book of that depth onto the screen without cutting and fudging a few things. I would watch each episode twice in a row, because it was entertaining enough that you could do that. I can't wait for the second season.

Praise for HBO's Game of Thrones

I am always afraid of my favorite books being turned into movies, it somehow takes away some of the mystery of the book. Like the world and all the characters were a private thing before they were put onto the big screen, and usually it creates a lot of 'fans' who have never read the books, who bother me. Game of Thrones has changed my feelings on the topic. The fact that George R.R. Martin approves of his books being turned into a series helps, but it astounds me how well HBO has done.

I watch every new episode twice, and squeal like a little schoolgirl the entire time. HBO has captured the grit of the books, and the complexity of the characters as well as the intellectual battles matched with the gore. Obviously not quite as all encompassing as the actual books, but as close as you can get. I will watch this happily as long as they keep making it.

SPOILER ALERT (for those of you who haven't read the books)
I'm soooo excited for the dragons

A Game of Thrones

I, being a respectable fantasy fangirl absolutely love A Game of Thrones and George R.R. Martin. Since George R.R. Martin is supportive of this venture I am VERY excited about this series. Although I don't watch TV (issue) I believe I will be able to remedy that through the internet. Even if this doesn't end up being good I will watch it, simply because A Game of Thrones is probably one of the best books I have ever read.

I am always afraid that something will change and the secret of such an amazing book with be exploited. I felt the same way when they made movies out of Lord of the Rings and I refused to watch them at first, I changed my mind once I saw how great they really good adapt the books for film, and there are still secrets hiding in the pages of the actual trilogy that moviegoers will miss (much to my pleasure)

So, Winter is Coming.
